Welcome!

It’s been a long, strange trip to get here.  On one hand, once I started running, it was pretty obvious that at some point in my life I would try to conquer the Boston Marathon.  On the other hand, it’s completely and totally insane that I’m actually doing it.

Given that this is a once in a lifetime opportunity, I decided to create a blog to chronicle the entire experience.  Even if no one else reads my ramblings (I hope they do!), it will be a fun way for me to be able to look back on my training, the fundraising, and the ups and downs that I have along the way.  In addition to training and fundraising updates, you can expect stories about my weight loss and running journey to this point.

Why did I pick the name From the Barstool to Boylston for my blog?  Well, for those of you that know me, it should be pretty easy to figure out.   In my heavier days, I spent a lot of time on barstools.  That’s not to say that you can’t find me on one now, you can, but I have a much better balance.  I work hard and I play hard, where as a few years ago, I was playing hard but not working hard to balance that out.

I’m very excited and absolutely terrified about  all of this.  26.2 miles is a lot of miles, and $8,000 is a lot of money.  But, with your support, I can totally do it….

Right?
